Baby's first bath

Of course, there is no set rule, but the water element is that of the baby in its mother's womb. Water should be a familiar calming element for him, you should be calm and relaxed so that this moment is equally relaxing for him.

For this to happen, we leave you a small list of things to check and do during the baby's first baths. Remember that it is above all a moment of sensory exchange between you and your baby, a moment to share

The bath: the temperature of the bath must be between 23°C and 25°C. And be sure to close the windows to avoid drafts.

The bathtub: as far as possible, choose a baby bath model suitable for your shower or bathtub, the more comfortable the more relaxed you will feel.

Water: The temperature of the bath water must be between 35°C and 37°C. In general, the temperature should always be checked with a thermometer before submerging the child. It is also not necessary to fill the bathtub, 10 cm or 15 cm is enough.

It is ideal to have a space near the bathroom to change or dress the baby after the bath. Keep in mind that a baby loses heat faster.

Safety: We can't say it enough, but under no circumstances should you leave a child alone in their bathroom, unattended they can drown in even two centimeters of water. If you have to open the door, wrap your baby in his towel and take him out of the bathroom.

Hygiene: To avoid stress during the first baths about how to hold the baby while you soap him, we recommend that the first baths you simply wash your hands with our Bath wash soap in the bath water and caress him, that will be enough. If the diaper is dirty, clean his bottom before bathing him so as not to dirty the water. Our bath wash is suitable for bathing the baby's body and head, in the first months we don't really talk about hair but more about down. From 6 months, depending on the amount of your child's hair, you can start using a suitable baby shampoo once or twice a week.

When you feel more secure, you will hold your baby with one firm hand and with the other you will soap his body with our natural Konjac sponge . Always wash your child from the cleanest to the dirtiest, starting with the head and ending with the bottom. If you have any questions that have not been answered during your stay at the maternity ward, do not hesitate to write them down and then ask your midwife during the first visits.

Frequency: It is not necessary to bathe a newborn every day (see our article why children should moisturize their skin ) . If your baby likes this moment of relaxation, give him a bath every day, but if possible not for a long time, always because of the chalky water, we recommend a maximum of 10 minutes.

Bath time : The bath should be, above all, a moment of calm and good for the baby and its parents. Bathing the baby at night is the best time to meet after a hectic day and to facilitate the baby's relaxation before going to bed.

We hope that these tips accompany you in your first steps as parents and we hope that you share many magical moments in your babies' baths.
